The world's largest health insurance scheme, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, was launched in Ranchi, Jharkhand on September 23, 2018.

It includes 1300 diseases including serious diseases like cancer and heart disease. Private hospitals will also be part of this scheme.
10 across the country
Over 74 crore poor and weaker families (about 50 crore beneficiaries) have been included in this. It is worth mentioning that 11.18 million families of Uttar Pradesh have been brought under the purview of this scheme.
Under this scheme, every family will be provided health insurance of Rs 5 lakh every year.
In the sum of 5 lakh rupees, check all types of medicines,
Hospital recruitment expenses etc. will also be included.
More than 13,000 hospitals across the country have been included in this scheme.
Under this scheme priority of girls, women and senior citizens will be given.
Free treatment will be available to all public and listed private hospitals at the time of need.
This plan covers 1,350 medical packages including surgery,
Medical and care, medicines and cost of diagnosis etc.
Under this scheme, all new and old diseases have been included.
This plan will be paperless and cashless.
The hospital will not be able to recover extra money from the beneficiaries for treatment.
Beneficiaries of this scheme can avail any services across India.

Who will be beneficiary?

Socio-Economic and Caste Census-
All the families listed in the SECC) database will be covered under the scheme according to defined criteria. No size has been fixed for family size and age of members.
Beneficiaries of the scheme according to SECC

In rural areas, there are families in different categories who have a room with raw wall and raw roof.
There is no adult member between the families of 16 to 59 years of age.
A family whose head is a woman and does not have any adult members between the ages of 16 and 59.
Such a family in which a member is Divyang and there is no adult physically capable member in that family.
Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribe families,
There are landless families who earn a substantial share of income from humane casual music.
In rural areas, such families are considered to be self-employed, who do not have a roof to live, who are destitute, lifelong living, scavengers, primitive tribe groups, legally free bonded laborers.
31 States / UTs ready to implement the scheme
31 States / UTs have signed Memorandum of Understanding with the Central Government to implement this scheme.
Telangana, Odisha, Delhi, Kerala and Punjab have opted not to implement this scheme.
It is worth mentioning that the Telangana government will continue its plans to the health condition, under which 80 lakh families of the state are covered.
Private data of beneficiaries will be safe

The provision of safeguarding personal data and sensitive personal information of beneficiaries of health insurance has been made and they will be used to suit the prescribed legal arrangements and rules.
In order to safeguard the information related to the beneficiaries, the best practices prevailing at international level are being adopted.
More than 94 control sets have been set at different levels for the safe use of the beneficiaries' data.
Strict rules have been set up for collecting, protecting and using statistics.
